Many times social media paints a perfect story of what pregnancy should look like. There are countless girls who are just absolutely beautiful showing off their baby bumps, expressing how much they love being pregnant and cannot wait to do it again. And I have to agree with them. To create and grow a life is the most magical thing there is. To think about what a woman’s body is capable of and how God has a plan and purpose for this little one and YOU get to be a part of it is an incredible blessing. However, because of this glamorous perception that social media paints of pregnancy, when Chad and I found out we were expecting a little one of our own I too thought I was about to embark on this amazing adventure full of excitement and joy. I immediately started planning what pictures I wanted to post and what wardrobe I was going to go out and buy so I could look just as cute as these other girls. Not once did I think that there could be challenges. Challenges that truly made us as a couple lean on one another more than we have ever had to in our 5 years of marriage thus far. Not once did I think that I would be so scared and ashamed that this pregnancy is not like the ones I see on social media so I cannot possibly share what we are going through. What will people think? Why is our pregnancy story different than theirs? What am I doing wrong?
It was in this thought that we decided that though our story might be different, this is just the beginning of our little girl’s purpose. Maybe we are going through this all because this is just the beginning of the amazing change she is about to bring in the world. SO instead of hiding and feeling ashamed that our pregnancy is not picture perfect, we want to share it with you all in case you might be going through something similar. We do not want you to feel alone if your pregnancy or life is not “social media” perfect and to encourage you to share your story too because it might just be foreshadowing God’s plan and purpose for you or your little one.
So here is just the beginning of our little girl, Payson’s Purpose.
